The 77th Cannes Film Festival was no short of a celebration of prominent Indian figures on a global stage. From the restoration and screening of Shyam Benegal’s monumental film Manthan (1976) to Payal Kapadia winning the Grand Prix for her feature directorial debut venture All We Imagine As Light (2024), the representation Indians have received this year at Cannes has been more than we have ever seen. But amidst all these milestone achievements for the Indian cinephile community, the beauty and style icons also had their moment.
There was an influx of creators and influencers seen at the Cannes Film Festival this year, and among them all stood out one person: Nancy Tyagi. Born and raised in a small village in Uttar Pradesh, India, Nancy is a self-taught seamstress and fashion designer. She started her content creation journey on social media by recreating popular celebrity outfits from scratch. She was the first person to walk the red carpet wearing, not one or two but three different outfits – all stitched by her! She outshone everyone else with her mesmerising presence and elegance.
Complementing her dressmaking skills, Nancy’s minimal yet statement-making makeup looks elevated her whole appearance without taking focus away from her outfits. Let’s dive deeper and see how you can recreate these subtle makeup looks. We will be using only MARS Cosmetics, as they were her official beauty partner for the 77th Annual Cannes Film Festival.
Soft-Girl Aesthetic
Thousand meters of fabrics, 30 days, and 20 kilos later we saw Nancy’s first outfit on the red carpet – a pink floor-length gown with elaborate ruffles and matching gloves. To complement her extravagant outfit, she went with a soft makeup look that focused on light pinks and nudes.
Start with the High Coverage Liquid Foundation for a long-lasting effect and set it with a setting powder. What really stood out were her eyes, achieving that shimmer look with MARS Northern Lights Liquid Eye Shadow. Add finishing touches with a MARS Creamy Matte Lipstick, in the shade – Disco Deewane and some MARS Glowzilla Highlighter on the cheekbones, collarbones, and shoulder for that limelight look.

The Dry-Wet Look
The second outfit she donned was a lacy saree full of tinsels and sequins. As the outfit was a flowy one, the makeup was inspired by a dry-wet look that focused on a glowy base. As this was a night event, we saw a lighter base with the MARS Lightweight BB Cream. This makeup look had more glitter than any other of her looks, so we recommend the MARS Northern Lights In A Pan Eyeshadow Palette along with a MARS Ink Black Eyeliner for that undeniable definition. Balance the shimmer with a matte lip with the MARS Poppins Lip Crayon, in the shade – Rosy Pink. Finally, finish the look with the MARS Seal the Deal Long-Lasting Makeup Fixer Spray for your makeup to last longer.

Minimalism At It’s Peak
The third and final outfit was a surprise to all – an all-black corset skirt. What really stole the show was the attention to detail to the beads on her neck, back, and hair. Paired with a fur scarf and a frilly bag, her final look gave femme fatale. Since the final look was so elaborate, the makeup was very minimal, highlighting her eyes. This look was the most elaborate with fashion details and very toned-down makeup, starting with a light base with MARS Chamomile Cushion Foundation with some focus on the eyes with a MARS Hyper Smooth Water Resistant Eyeliner and finally a nude lip with MARS Popstar Non Drying Liquid Mousse Lipstick.

There you go! A simple recreation of the effortlessly chic – Nacy Tyagi, whose Cannes looks we just can’t miss. Onwards and upwards for this self-made fashionista; we hope to see more of her designs as the style icon Sonam Kapoor herself is said to have commissioned an outfit from the house of Nancy. So, what's holding you back? I for one can’t wait to recreate all of her makeup looks with MARS Cosmetics and step into the power of being an ordinary girl doing extraordinary things.
